William Turner (1775-1851)

TURNER is accepted by the 'art establishment', whatever that may be, as a groundbreaking Impressionist who influenced the Expressionists while giving birth to the Surrealists in their most earliest form.
I surmise this is because he choose to paint what he saw and felt inside, and enhance it with his technique into a new dimension. Turner's POV has that 'floating' sensation that I aspire to achieve in my photography, and which offers the sensation of weightlessness in witnessing the scene. I further suggest this is 'Spirit' reflecting his/your soul. Haa!
TASCHEN, the progressive publishing house are releasing a lovely book on Turner's history as per usual filled with excellent reproductions of the major works and chronological summary on the artist's life and works. Enjoy!
